What You Need to Know

Greetings! I’m Maggie. This is my blog. I started it because I read a lot (I mean A LOT) of blogs and I often think about what I would write if I had my own blog. So I thought, why not give it a go? My goal is to share one thing about something in my life, every day. Whether it’s a whole involved story or a single picture, I want some record of what I did.

What might you see here? Well, mostly me.

sinister

That’s me looking sinister in the mirror at my college roommate’s wedding.

That’s my in the ugly Christmas sweater I made based on the Hallmark snowmen dolls my mother buys me.

easterneuropeanwhore

And that’s me looking like an Eastern European whore at my company’s Christmas party (tell me you don’t look at that outfit and think Eastern European whore).

Still not sure what I’m all about? Here are 10 random facts about me:

1. There aren’t a lot of things I take seriously. This is good and bad.

2. I am a tennis fan in the way that many Americans are football fans. I can recall specific points, I wake up at 3am to watch matches, and I went to the US Open 8 times in 2011. (I also co-write a tennis blog.)

3. About 2 years ago I took up running. I really liked it and for about a year I felt really fit. I even ran a half marathon. Then my knee started bothering me, I got lazy, and I stopped running. Now I really like kickboxing. But I’m also trying to run again. (Please say a silent prayer I don’t die.)

4. I love cooking and baking, but I am terrible at making up my own recipes. I used to feel like I wasn’t a real cook/baker if I wasn’t making my own creations, then I got over it.

5. I’m a highly competitive (in a good-natured way) person. I love card games, board games, stupid bets and also watching pretty much any sport on TV or, even better, in person.

6. I have an efficiency fixation. It probably borders on OCD. I am also a hypochondriac.

7.  I used to be a very picky eater, but I’ve expanded my horizons over the past few years and I’m really enjoying trying lots of different foods. And now I find picky eaters incredibly annoying.

8. When I was about 9 years old I sliced my hand open while cutting an apple. Like wide open. But my mom was too sick to take me to the hospital and my father didn’t think I needed to go. So I never got stitches. And that pretty much sums up my family. (Not really, they’re totally nuts.) (Hi mom and dad! Don’t worry, I’ll share nice things about you too.)

9. I work at a book publisher.

10. My last name means May in Italian. That makes me Maggie May.
